Default DWM cal.30 identification

I purchased this Luger about thirty years ago . The dealer had it
tagged as a "1922 Commercial". Does that agree with the photos?

From what we can see, yes. But the more pictures you can post of markings, the better we can try to conform this for you.

I date my mid "m" block pistol to 1923 so this one from the "p" block is more likely from 1926.

These would be called "DWM Alphabet Commercial" pistols.

You have a nice one that looks well cared for.

The commercial 7.65mm Luger post WW-I pistols were made with 5 numeric digit serial numbers through about 1920, and then converted after sn 92000 in mid 1921 to the military style 4 numeric digit, one suffix letter format.

They started with suffix letter "i" at that time. These were produced through the 1920's through about the "s" block by 1929.

In about 1930 the DWM production line was dismantled and moved from Berlin to Mauser's Oberndorf facility.

We have a useful FAQ document available free from this site. Just follow the FAQ link at the top of pages.
