Just got my 1934 Beretta last night.
The complete, unedited description as it still appears on gunsamerica.com is:

"Beretta Model 1934,.380 ACP caliber Italian Army Service pistol,blue finish,3-3/8" barrel,real Ivory grips with metal backs. Has RE under crown military proof mark on left rear of frame.90-95% overall condition. Bore is excellent.$350.00 plus $20.00 shipping costs."

"Bore is excellent" translates to: 100% deep pitting of grooves, 10% pitting of lands, 50% wear of lands.
The "90-95%" statement, not taking the barrel into consideration, is probably a bit exaggerated, but that falls into the realm of opinion.

Seller's excuse: "it's a consignment".

Hi David,

When buying from G-A or from another auction site where you do not know the seller, you might consider using an escrow service.

The trick would be to find one close to your home so you can inspect the gun during the 3-day inspection period. This assumes the seller has offered the inspection period, as well.

There was a gun shop near my home that used to provide this service for around $ 150 but he gave up his escrow license about 1.5 years ago.

But regular escrow companies may provide such a service...if they are not spooked about handling a gun in their office and can securely store one.

I thought 3 day inspection was manditory on GA, I think it is on AA. Anyways I wont buy from anyone without 3 day inspection.
I remember a guy wanted a refund on a 1911 I sold one time. No problem. When the gun came back it had a diffrent Bbl. I made him send me the original back before he got his refund. Buying or selling 3 day inspection is the way I do it.

The guy offered to refund my money. But that's a moot point. He knows I bought the gun strictly to get the grips and then resell the gun. And he knows I'm not about to return it because real ivory grips for a 1934 Beretta aren't exactly common.
I still got good value for my money, I just didn't get the value advertised.
