Value on 1935 holster??
Hi!
What woould the value of a holster marked " Otto Sindler 1935" be? In "Third Reich Lugers" Jan Still say they are quite rare... The holster is a standard black Wermacht holster in ok condition (But not perfect). |

P. Ristan, Hard to really say. Condition is a factor of course but I would say rarity would help there. Only way to really be sure of the world market would be to offer it on Ebay and see what it would bring.You are right, There are very few of these in the World. Jerry Burney

@P. Ristan
All I find is "Otto Sindel, Berlin" using WaA codes 4, 91 & 94 in 1934, whereas 91 is in questions. Also, I find no indication of what this company was producing. @nein11 Your WaA code should rather be 142. I find this one for P08 holsters made by "Otto Reichel, Lengefeld", used from 1935-39. A 1935 Otto Sindel holster was probably made for the Police and would not be waffenamped. The military accepted hosters (WaAed) made in 1935, are much rarer than the Police marked ones. From what I've seen out there, I would guess that the ratio of Police to Military 1935s at 20 to 1. Tom H.

My 1935 Otto Sindel holster is an army holster. It has the early Waffenamt marking and it is closed with a bukcle, not with a strap like the police-holsters. Are the really that more rare than the police holsters?? <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" />

The 1935 date mil holsters are much less common than the police holsters. Much less common.

I agree with Tom H., the military 1935 P.08 holster is very, very scarce. I know some advanced collectors that have just about everything but no "G" date military holster.
I have wondered why that is the case and, right or wrong, this is the scenario that I have come up with. I believe the German military wanted a lot of Lugers in 1934. Mauser just couldn't produce what they wanted but the holster makers were easily able to manufacture the supply of holsters to match the desired number of Lugers. So, since Mauser production fell short, the 1934 holsters were over stocked and were issued with "G" date Lugers. Additional 1935 holsters were ordered but not nearly as many as there were "G" date Lugers. For what it worth. Leon |
