Das steht doch auf der Kiste. Ich weiß jetzt wirklich nicht worauf sich die Frage bezieht.

These boxes were present on board of German ships. The box was sealed with a lead seal, inside was a holstered pistol with ammunition for emergency use.

That is a nice one in good condition. There is a week to go on the auction and I bet it tops $1000.

While it varies from day to day, multiply the high bid shown in Euro's by 1.33 to obtain the bid in dollars.

At the moment, the bid is at Euro 203 which is about $270.

If the bid reaches Euro 752 then it has just passed $1000.

The seller does not accept PayPal. This probably means sending a check in Euros from your bank (which costs me an additional $25.00) to the seller and there may be an added charge at the seller's end to handle the US origin check.

The "hang tag" that was with the lead seal is still with the box. It is from the "Waffenraum" (weapon room) of "W.H.K . und L.S." Could the L.S. be for Luftschiff? I know that there isn't much information in those letters, but perhaps Klaus or some of out learned German marking experts could take a stab at identifying the marking. Might be of some significance.

Hi Rod,
I don't think the box belonged to a Luftschiff.
The box was made 1940, if the markings are right.

Personally, I think the 'rack' is there to lift the bottom of the holster away from the bottom of the box, protecting it agains moisture. Just a thought.

Regarding the markings, I'm thinking more in the direction of a home tome defense group:

'W.H.K. u. L.S.' could be 'Wehrkreis und Luftschutz' (home defense and air defense).

Vlim, I have seen several of these in the past with just an empty box and I don't believe a holstered pistol will fit in the box with this rack.
