Default Remove early mainspring?

I'm pretty good at getting a P08 coil spring in and out, but I just can't figure how the early s-shaped mainspring is done....don't wanna break anything! Theres a bright metal piece at the foot of the spring...does this need to come out first, and how?

Unless its broken, I wouldn't take it out...

Of course many folks take their lugers completely down, I see no point in more than a basic strip down to clean it.

No Ed, the old spring is very weak, and need to replace it....I'd leave it be if it was ok.

yes, before I came back to the middle east, I went and tried shooting my 1900 shooter, it was unreliable, unsure if crummy mag was the fault or a weak mainspring.

So, understand where you are coming from

Nuke, With the barrel receiver and grips removed, carefully remove the grip safety without damaging it's spring, then with a wide punch, drive out the bottom of main spring from the left side. I'll add to the above comments --- don't do it unless you have to, as the replacement will be more difficult to install, that this one was to remove. TH
