Nothing special but nice...1917 DWM with adjustable sights. All matching to include magazine and grips. Good bore with some slight pitting in the grooves but should not effect accuracy.
Disassembled, cleaned and shot it today...nice trigger. Man, the DWM stamp man must have been busy given all of the serial stamps everywhere. I will shoot it (have a reproduction stock/trommel enroute)...but will remove the grips for storage and use others.

The first photo is blurry, but you have a wonderful LP.08!

The next two pictures are really good - all the details show up really well.
The luger seems to be in really good condition - there is still straw color on the small parts, which I really look for (the trigger, locking bolt, thumb safety in particular).

Also, several people have reported that the rear sight slider is very fragile, so you might want to tape it up if you continue shooting it. The tang on the distance adjustment piece can break off and it's a hard part to replace.

We also recommend using an aftermarket magazine (Mac-gar).
The original magazines may have gotten bent or dented and the spring may not be stiff enough.
Wood bases can crack or pop off.

Since all of your parts are matching, it's a very collectible luger.

You might want to look for another one for shooting and preserve this one.

For use I will first replace the original F Pin/extractor ..secure the sight and I never planned on using the original mag...I have a bunch of the Mac G mags.

I use all of my military pieces but it won't be over used... used and taken care of.

Unless I'm mistaken, your 1917 LP.08 also has the fine tune front sight. The lack of a suffix letter under the serial number on the frame means it was made early in the year as part of the first 10,000 block manufactured. The fine tune front sight was the first feature later in 1917 production dropped to simplify production. Second to go was the fine tune rear sight in favor of a fixed blade without adjustment.

From your pictures you appear to have a truly nice Luger. You did well.

Doubs, yes it has the 'fine tune' front sight. I have the proper tool and both front/rear adjustors move freely.

Very nice LP08 Sir, and yes I put my grips up and added repro ones as I shoot it sparingly however I have a restored LP08 which I do shoot with some frequency.

A tie wrap works well for securing the rear sight and keep it from jumping over the teeth.

So, what breaks the fine teeth is the slider 'jumping' during recoil? It is more that its weight in place on the groove it is sitting in it is known to jump over a few teeth? I was wondering how the event happened.

Would that not indicate a weak spring in the slider itself?

I think it may be just a poor design coupled with soft steel. My LP08 is showing wear in the "teeth" as well as my C-96 Mauser Red 9. I'm thinking it might be prudent to lock the rear sight of both in place if I want to continue shooting them.

I taped mine down today to shoot.
I got the Trommel mag and loading tool from Numrich today and it is a stout, well made unit as is the loader.
It took a bit of fettling (enlarged the mag lock cut out a tad) et. but it ran fine. Very cool accoutrement.

Replaced the serial #'d extractor and F Pin with SARCO replacements...operates just fine. I found a nice reproduction stock and holster and as I will use it stocked that made more sense than an original.
The Numrich Arms trommel/loader work perfectly...loaded and fired 32 out of it yesterday. That was fun and hitting steel at 100 yards consistently.
It needs a red dot (kidding)..
