I'm cringing watching this guy apply a blowtorch to a relic Erfurt with a live round in the chamber, then tapping on the chambered bullet nose back against a possibly frozen firing pin!!

And look how he constantly positions himself in front of the muzzle!

Whatever happened to simply tapping the upper receiver off the frame, (there is no locking bolt present), then removing the main axle pin and pulling the toggle train off to the rear with no spring pressure??

What an accident waiting to happen!

Towards the end, when he is driving the toggle back with a punch down the barrel, it looks like only an empty case and not a loaded round in the chamber. In the last scene with the gun in the fire, I'm wondering if he did that to fire the loaded round before he started taking it apart.

I think the loaded round looks like an empty because he drove the bullet back into the case by pounding on its nose. If you look really carefully, you will see a bullet driven into the case by the force of the rod he used as it comes out of the chamber. It is clearly between the case and rod end as it comes out.

I'm curious to where that was found. It actually looks to good to have been tilled up from the back 40. I wonder if it was found in a basement or barn somewhere in France.

I agree that this looks like an attic or barn find. The only part that looks rusted through is the safety bar. It actually cleans up nice one oil was applied to it!
Certainly restorable.

Really have to keep an eye on "experts."
A couple years ago an "experienced" civil war ordnance tinkerer blew hisself to bits tinkering with a shell.
He'd done it lots of times.

I saw a barnfound Arty in Indiana years ago-deply pitted all over except the bore which was perfect.

Another thing I shudder at are all those videos on Youtube where they are digging up WW2 battlefields. All of these amateurs pulling out mortar rounds, land mines and other explosive ordnance and simply tossing lt aside.
Just because its rusty doesn't mean its safe!!
