Gesichert
Is or was there a luger manufacturer by the name Gesichert?? Can someone tell me about it....I have a chance to buy one and don't know anything about it.....Cost and such....

No. It sounds like the seller is unfamiliar with Lugers and is reading the word "Gesichert", or "Safe" off the side of the gun and is assuming it is the manufacturer's name.
Have you actually seen the gun? The manufacturer's name or logo will usually appear on the middle toggle link. |

Individual will bring the luger over this afternoon....I'll take some pictures and try posting them....New to the site so might take a bit.....He wants $450 for it....He is a very elderly gentleman, says he has had it for many years....I have purchased several other guns from him....Final clearance in his life, he wants good homes for them...

I, obviously, have not seen this Luger, but unless it is a total "rust bucket", it is worth the $450 asking price. I look forward to seeing the photos.

Looks like a 1920 Commercial, many many thousands made and worth the $450 asking price. It is most likely 30 cal.(7.65mm Luger)a better cartridge(in my opinion) for Lugers than the 9mm.

I also have a DWM Alphabet Commercial in the "m" block. My pistol is a couple thousand later than this one. It was made in 1923-1924 timeframe for export from Germany and commercial sale in the USA.
$450 is a good price for it. Looks to be in especially nice condition. Marc

Well guess it came out pretty good.....Dave the 'Ol gentleman with the luger had thought it was a war trophy all the time he had it and after I showed him this posting, he gave me the luger.... But was insisted that I give it to my oldest boy who is a retired AF jet jock that loves 'Ol military arms as much as I do...
This is my first luger....Hoping to get a military example, but not sure where the best place is to look....With all the crap that goes on....Need a matching magazine...... Have a Great Day!!!!!!!! And thanks to all that helped me |

Keep your eyes focused here for a used military Luger. They do come up.
And your commercial Luger would have had an un-numbered wood bottom magazine, if that is what you are looking for. Congratulations! dju |

Maybe someone can give me some help I.D.ing the holster Dave give me with the luger....It is marked with dla 42 on the back left side above the belt loop....It also has a Nazi eagle mark with WaA195 below the eagle....And P.08 in large letters on the right side....It is black with belt type closure, full formed molded flap....Has a flap covered pocket sewd to the top for the tool and a mag compartment on the side....It's very soft and supple.....

Your holster was manufactured in 1942 by Karl Barth,Militareffekten-Fabrik,Waldbrohl/Rheinland. The WaA is the Waffenant number assigned. Sounds like a standard 1942 luger military holster. Bill
