FAQ want to update
Please read over the FAQ and then tell me here or via PM or email what we should add for new collectors?
Questions that get asked etc, often, I will post and probably link to the item How to ID a Luger that was made. Ed

One thing that would help me, is what are the best books for a new collector?
As a neophyte to the world of Luger collecting, I'm looking for very basic information and photos. I've read the Davis catalog book; while I understand it may have inaccuracies I found it fascinating and a useful overall orientation. I have "Luger Tips" on order. At this stage I feel I don't quite know enough to decide which part of the production history I am most interested in. |

Thanks Ron, book ordered.
On the thread subject, some other questions to consider adding follow. How do you clean/lubricate a collector luger for best long-term preservation? What's the best way to store a collector Luger? In a case, open air? Any storage pitfalls to avoid? Is it OK to dry-fire a Luger? Thanks for a fascinating forum. I don't own any Luger(s) at the moment and am trying to educate myself before taking the plunge. |

I think the smart thing is to make this into a word document and then 'save' as a PDF - we don't lose photos then...
I am guilty of not spending time, have some very good suggestions... |

Q.1 Who has manufactured Lugers
Should have additions on the post war Interarms / Mauser activities (which originated from the plans and tooling provided by the Swiss, but which involved re-engineering and creation of a new production line - the fourth, which was not mentioned in the post), as well as the recent manufacturing that has taken place in the United States and modern Krieghoff. ADDED - EBT Q.19 should also list the Interarms / Mauser tooling... This q/a may be redundant, especially if combined with Q.1. Q.5. CAI's markings are fairly common and a reference to Century Arms might reduce inquiries. ADDED EBT I can provide a pic of a 1921 VoPo with markings from "ECCSA PENN NJ" which refers to the now defunct "Crossroads Gun Shop" in Pennsauken, NJ. They brought in quite a few Lugers and P.38 pistols. New: Add a reference to Mauser's late "WR" stamp - thought to be Werks Revision. I have a pic posted at http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...werks+revision Q.24 Some "42" date Lugers have no number stamped inside the trigger plate. Q.24 should be combined with Q.42 which has more details. - DONE EBT Q. 27 we should standardize on "Hump" rather than "Bump"n DONE EBT - - - - - - - Once new text is created for the revised FAQs, I can help by editing it, creating the PDF, and adding illustrations is you would like me to. Marc

After all these answers I bet now you're wondering WHY why why? did you ask that question! No, jokes apart, your question was absolutely right, but, in my opinion, perhaps we shouldn't expect to find ALL our answers in the FAQ of the site. Thanks again for your efforts. Rgds Sergio

http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=13121 I needed to print out a page on the Revisions Commission stamp, and my HP Officejet 7210 could not print any of the PDF pages in Portrait form, only Landscape, despite my trying different options. Is this how you intended the FAQ to be read/printed???
