It looks like a standard commercial Police holster to me?

I asked the seller on what basis he determined the rarity of this item, but have not received a reply as yet.

I agree with ORV... a standard Police holster unless there are original markings that we are not being told about...
Quite frankly, I think...
ONLY ISSUED TO WAFFEN XX(CC)OFFICERS.

is auction marketing hype for the folks with more money than brains...

If you look real close you can see a round emblem stamped in the upper right top flap. I believe this is a death's head stamp. This must be what this guy is leaning on for so many bucks. Jerry Burney

I received an enlarged photo from the seller showing a very blurry death's head stamp as Jerry noticed. I don't know what to say about this. Are there any other known examples which are considered authentic?

Since no one in my three years with the forum has put forth any facts regarding the true meaning of the death's head mark (It has all been hearsay or just plain speculation) there is no way to measure the value of such a mark on this holster (even if it is genuine!)
Even if there were provenance that the mark meant what the seller has implied I doubt it would add more than $50-100 to the holster's value... And where does he get the less than 200 made statistic if a Luger holster expert like Jerry Burney doesn't know? I stand by my first post on this item without provenance to the contrary... Just my $0.02

Mike Morris has a Death Head hoster on his site and certainly much less expensive :

The Waffen SS Feldgendarmerie had a Death Head embroidered on the front of their caps, maybe this is a Waffen SS Feldgendarmerie holster?

This is a huge deal in several discussions and in several books, specifically Jan's Weimar Lugers, where it was discussed at length. I have heard, but not read that it was a big discussion in Auto Mag also.

if it was only issued to waffen ss officers it must have been to officers in the ss-totenkopf guard but before 1938, becuse in 1938 they started to change to p-38. a little wierd that a police holster was issued to an army officer. and the one on mike morrises page is not a police holster like the one in the auction(i think?) also wierd since they are not same type.
