1916 DWM

I have a 1916 DWM with unit markings(LJR 48.12.)and the frame is stamped Germany, the barrel is a 7.65 with no markings& the rest of the gun is matched. Is this gun right or wrong?????

Badgeguy99, sounds, at first read, to be a 1920 Commercial. What is barrel length from muzzle to face of breechblock when closed (use a pencil to measure this)? Is there a small Crown over N on the front of the receiver on the left side? Pictures might help. Sounds like an Imperial Luger (WWI Vintage) that has been reworked for the commercial market. The GERMANY marking is an EXPORT COMMERCIAL marking for sales to American market in the 20s.

My guess at the grip strap markings is that it is
Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment 48, Kompanie 12.

Thor: I'm new at this, just joined today and I sent you a reply, but do not know where it went, so I'm sending another..... The barrel is 3-7/8" from muzzle to breechblock, no small crown or N on the receiver. Eagle on the breechblock. I'm using the book "LUGERS AT RANDOM" pg. l66 for my reference. The gun looks exact except for the stamp GERMANY and the barrel. Sorry no pictures available..... Thanks

Okay, if the barrel is not marked it may have been rebarrel later. does it have any serial numbers on parts? Any acceptance stamps on right reciever? Does it have a LETTER SUFFIX under the frame serial when viewed from the muzzle end, unloaded and lock open of course. When you say "no markings" does that include chamber date (I assume not) or Front toggle link. Serial numbers, type of magazine etc. Type of grips, straw parts, lots of things are important. See the id sheets in the technical section as a guide.This Luger has probably several eras of use and history. The shorter 30 Luger barrel and export marking make the commercial sales aspect the probable final type of use just prior to it coming to the US as a commercial gun I would think.
