Recoloring marks?!?
Hi again,
the marks on a 08 (maker, year etc.) are usually white colored. At my pistol the marks have lost the white color. Is it possible to "repaint" them? How can I do this and with which type of paint? Thanks! |

Re: Recoloring marks?!?
The "marks" are normally NOT coloured! The ONLY mark that was painted in white was the "Gesichert" under the safety lever. Some folks colour in the marks to make them easier to see. A white china marker, availbale from your local office supply store, will work best for this purpose, as it will leave no permanent mark on your gun, and can be removed easily when needed.

White Markings
white markers are used to fill in the letters to enhance the markings in photographs.
It is easily removed with acetone [polish remover] |

Re: Recoloring marks?!?
The coloring in the date, proofmarks and so forth may look pretty but are not desired by some collectors. We feel that additional whitening of these areas can hide counterfeiting or faking. Only the safety area had white on the original Lugers. And this may have a yellowish color due to aging.
