The Babel fish translator at Alta Vista says that it translates to:

"officially one introduced"

It's pretty damp at the moment where I live, and the folks in the east/north east are drowning. Hell of a flood.
Working on the translation.

OK, eat this for lunch:

"The Army Pistol 08

In order to replace the Army’s revolvers by more handy and practical weapons, different multi-loading pistols were developed. The pistol which was finally introduced in the Army was the Pistole 08.

It is a Borchardt-Luger-Pistol which occured in the first basic version approx. 1900 and has been, after several improvements, manufactured in it’s most known form from 1908.
The 08 has been carried in the Army even in WW II and is generally knwon under the name Parabellum. The cartridge 08 (later 9mm Parabellum) has been developed especially for her.

During the introduction in the Wehrmacht (should rather read „Imperial Army&#8220 the Customs Administration preferred the Dreyse pistol in 1912.
Therefore the 08 was only introduced (in the Customs Admin.) from 1908 through 1912 for carrying tests. As some districts did not introduce the Dreyse pistol for their officials there were some of these weapons (P08) still existing.

(record from 1912 for the supply of Border Officials with the P08)

The surplus weapons (P08) have even been kept in the Reich’s Finance Supply Dept. until 1934.
As surplus weapons have been transferred to the Wehrmacht at that time, it is assumed that the existing P 08 were transferred to the Army Administration.

From approx. 1927 through 1934 the weapons of the Customs Administration (and therefore also the P 08) were marked with "R.F.V." or "R.Z.V." (Reichsfinanzverwaltung or Reichszollverwaltung) and consecutive numbers of the Reichs Finance Supply Dept.
The P08 which were carried in the RZV in these times can be identified by these markings."

Don't kill the messenger, I did the translation only.

Thanks to Juergen for his fine translation. However forum members are reminded that most languages can be quickly translated by going to http://www.freetranslation.com
The results are not perfect, but quite understandable.

Aaron:

Sorry to disagree with you, however, you will not get a translation of the quality supplied by Juergen from one of the free oneline translation service; particularly when military terminalogy is involved.

Juergen, thanks for the translation, I was going to get around to it earlier but this work thing keeps on getting in the way and I wouldn't have done as well anyway. This article was not easy to translate, this won't make any sense but its easier to read and understand something than it is to translate it and put it in writing. This was a technical article in a formal style, not easy for me. I'm glad the forum has resources available that makes this possible. Bell just rang. (Anybody in for a couple of hours of close order drill with weapons in 90 deg. Alabama humidity?) FALL IN! HEAD AND EYES STRAIGHT AHEAD! DRESS RIGHT, DRESS! DON'T LOOK AT ME CADET! DO YOU LIKE ME OR SOMETHING? I DON'T LIKE YOU. READY, FRONT! RIGHT, FACE! FORWARD, MARCH! LEFT, LEFT, LEFT RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT.......

Gonna be a long day.

@Ed Tinker
Southern ? NAY !
I'm in the State of "Hessen", just 45 miles north of Frankfurt. Born there, lived there forever. And, believe it or not, I have a faible for New England, even the People's Republic of Mass.
Been there on business pretty often. Too bad, my last visit was 4 years ago.
I'm happy to help the forum with translations when time allows for.
I agree that online translation tools are a help, but when it comes to a certain terminology the results are misleading very often.

Juerger, I understand that in Europe a persons that speaks more than 2 languages is considered cultured, only 2 --- educated, and if only one --- an American. Tom H.
