Here is my beautiful swiss waffenfabrik bern P06 made in 1922 it is in pristine beautiful condition she is numbers matching and has not been refinished this one will definitely be a safe queen and only put on display no reason for breaking a numbered part im very excited to add this to my ever growing collection of lugers especially swiss made ones the next will be a nice model 29 the swiss tank of lugers

This is a reply to user whisky. What you have my friend is a beautiful waffenfabrik swiss P06 or also commonly referred to as the 06/24 swiss luger. It appears to be in absolute fantastic condition it was made in 1929 so it puts it towards the end of the production run they ended the P06 production in 1933 and then started up the model 29 series of swiss lugers. As for the magazine the swiss did not numbers match them to the gun sometimes you can see them force matched from a previous owner or whatnot. Now unfortunately your magazine is not the correct type for a 06/24 it should have a wood bottom to it, the plastic bake-a-lite style magazine that comes with your gun belongs to a model 29 swiss luger now to just confirm it is in fact a swiss magazine. When you get it check for the letter P to be marked on the spine of the magazine but i say you did very good and it will be an excellent addition to your collection

I thank you for the information on my soon-to-be-here Swiss Luger - legacy doesn't furnish much information on their firearms so I've had to "go hunting" for info

I will be sure to check the magazine for I.D. when all arrives - tracking tells me that it arrived in Dallas around noon today and I'm about 2 hours east of there 0 so - with most LGS'/FFLs closed Sunday and Monday it'll be Tuesday, at the earliest before I get it in my anxious hands.....

The “06/24 Swiss” designation is a myth.

The phrase 06/24 was actually introduced by Fred Datig in his first edition of “The Luger Pistol” in 1955. Datig admitted in later years that it was erroneous information provided to him by a Swiss “expert” that wasn’t.

Walter picked up on this misnomer, using the designation 06/24 in his “Luger” book published in 1977 but clearly indicated that tooling for the Swiss production was completed in 1918 with full production starting in 1919. The only two uses of the designation 06/24 by him in that publication was “Production ceased in favour of the Ordonnanzpistole 06/24 W+F in 1928” (clearly a typographical error that should have read ‘...06/29 W+F in 1928”) and in a caption for a table “Ordonnanzpistolen 06 W+F, ‘06/24’ type, deliveries 1928-1933”. By the time he published “The Luger Book” in 1986 and “The Luger Story” in 1995 he had dropped the 06/24 reference completely and only used the designation “Ordonnanzpistole 1906 W+F”.

Legacy Collectibles, from whom I just purchased my Swiss, advertised my pistol as : "Beautiful Swiss Bern 1906/24 Luger Rig"

Hi,
In 1964 while in Switzerland I was able to purchase Swiss Model 29. It had a P64 stamped on the left side of the frame. According to the gun shop owner. Pistols formerly owned by Swiss military people can be sold privately and this particular pistol was sold to the gun shop that year. The P64 indicates year of sale. Further he said most of these type pistols are are arsenal refinished. I am not sure what all that means but I have never seen a Swiss Luger that didn't look pristine.
