What's a fair trade value?

I donâ??t know the history of this Luger, except that it was obtained in the early 1950â??s from an elderly Finlander in NE Minnesota. The individual that obtained this Luger from this gentleman, stated the elderly Finlander handmade the grips. The clips are not matched as they have numbers 9113 and 2270 with a + and 2 other markings. The holster has the top inside small pouch missing but does have the soldiers name handwritten on the inside of the flap. It looks like a stock could be fitted to the bottom rear of the handle and it has a lanyard mount. This Luger was last fired in the 1950â??s. Could anyone tell me what a fair trade value this Luger would have?

7P's, You need to show a photo of the whole pistol. The closeups are good but a photo of the whole holster and pistol would be necessary to determine any value.

If you are interested in selling the holster and an extra magazine I am interested.

Welcome to the forum. Since the grips are home spun. I would guess, with the holster, $600- $700. It looks to be in decent condition otherwise. Can you post a full view of the pistol and holster?

The reason I asked about a fair trade value is because I was trying to trade the pistol and holster for a well set up Bushmaster M17 (bullpup) and $500.00 He just wants to trade even up - I've had this pistol for a long time, so I'm not in any hurry to trade it, especially if I'm going to get the short end of the stick.

I don't know how much a bullpup is worth....

The gun is a bit rough, probably worth $700 in todays market, the holster another $125-$175, as it too has bangs on it, but being brown, sometimes worth more.

I really appreciate the advice. The bullpup with accessories is worth around $650 to me - probably more to him? I was under the erroneous impression that a 1918 Luger with a holster bearing the name of the Soldier was worth more than a thousand dollars. Strange how a pistol from Brown or Wilson can fetch a couple thousand dollars, while a â??piece of historyâ?� is worth considerably less. I guess if thatâ??s all itâ??s worth, Iâ??ll probably just hang on to it until I find that bullpup owner who wants this luger as bad as I want his bullpup. Thanks again

1918 Erfurts were the "last" erfurts made, history to some folks might add $50-$100, it matters to me...

A shooter luger goes from $450-$600, all depending on where you live, and maybe this 1918 is nicer than it shows in the pictures. It is one I wouldn't mind owning, but rougher shape means it will never rise in value as fast as a nicer one.

I'd suggest the grips detract from the value; otherwise quite a nice gun; I'd be happy if I owned it.
