Marine P.04 Denmark

Hello Luger fellows
Her in Denmark a P.04 DWM 1917 was discovering few years ago.
Maybe not something special.
But the Luger has a stamp on its left side “HV” (Haerens Vaaben Arsenal) = Army Weapon Arsenal
This stamp makes this Luger very attractive.
After WW2 a lot of pistols came on service in Denmark,
Among these Lugers, some pistols got the property stamp “HV”
A very rare Luger I think?

I am curious...It is a "navy" Luger, but was property of the Army??? Does it have the Navy barrel, or the 4" "army" style barrel??? (I believe we have seen 4" barreled Navy Lugers [with 2-position rear sight] here)...

So it would not necessarily have been used by the Danish Navy???

In Germany it was a Navy Luger, but after WW2 the luger ended up in Denmark, and go in to service in the (Danish) Army

Hi Sej, Thanks for that extra photo. The serial number on the left receiver must have been applied during an arsenal rework. It also looks as if the chamber date has been removed. I have heard that these old Navies were issued to the Danish dock police, and had a long and hard service life. Regards, Norm

It has a 6" (150mm) barrel.

Does the number on the right receiver match the serial# on the front of the frame? It looks like a C/HV stamp and possible weapon or rack number. Why would the serial# be added to the right receiver?

Hi Jes, Thanks for posting that new picture. I have changed the serial number of this gun from 1020 to 2054 on the Navy List. I have no idea what the number 1020 on the right receiver signifies. Regards, Norm.

Just a guess, but since the 1020 is right next to another Crown/HV chances are pretty good it is an inventory number.

I have the same opinion as Ron, about the number "1020" on the right side of the receiver,
I also think it is a inventory number. The “crown/HV” was i use from circa 1949 to 1951.
(Hærens Våbenarsenal = Army Weaponarsenal)
