Commemorative Arty w/ Ivory Grips

Hello Friends,
I was so lucky to find these beautiful Mauser ivory grips for Commemorative LP08/P08. These grips are rare for two reasons:
- First, because Mauser produced few pistols with ivory grips;
- Second, because usually the pistols with ivory grips were based on the 06/73 model and therefore with safety grips.

Only some P08/LP08 with ivory grips were made in the last period of production.

In the first photo, the Commemorative LP08 in his leather case with accessories and epoch add-on.

To me the result is really good.

That is a very striking look. The grips look like they "belong" on that gun. I like it.

Thank you for your enthusiastic comments.
These grips were bought by a German dealer together with some engraved models and accessories directly from Mauser when the fire arm division was closed in 1999. The price I had paid for these grips is extremely high but I guess it is very difficult to find another couple like that.
I am really proud of my commemorative.

Hello Mauro,

Do not handle the pistol too much, otherwise you might wear off the fire blue on the grip screws!!

Moreover, after 80 years or so, the ivory will turn a beautiful yellow color, but you might not be around to see it. However, your son might have the pleasure to notice the change!!

The next time I visit you, I am looking forward to drinking that bottle of Italian sparkling wine. Should I bring one of my vinatage ivory corkscrews to pull out the cork? By the way, my corkscrew shows an example of the color I am mentioning

Hello Hairy,
As far as I know, Mauser did not produced magazine with Ivory bottom.
So far I have seen only plastic and wood bottom mounted in the Mauser Parabellum magazine.
Due to the fact that it was possible to customize the Parabellum when Mauser produced them, it is possible that somebody asked for an Ivory magazine bottom.
So far there is no evidence.

Albert, assuming that the grips are around 20 years old, in 50 years I will be 98 years old. Maybe be I will be still around. If yes, I will invite you to check the Ivory color change.

Mauro, you should do an experiment and analysis of the color change over the next 50 years to see how much the color of the grips ages every time you hold this Luger...

Mauro, why wait? Just soak the grips in strong tea for a few hours and they will look properly aged.

I am not interested in speed up this natural process.
Actually this is a 20 years old Arty commemorative with related Mauser Parabellum ivory grips. All matches perfectly.
