New eBay Policy

The following information is from the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action this date:

eBay Update: As we reported last week, a spokesman for eBay has announced that the company will be banning the sale of all gun-and-ammunition-related parts and components on its online auction and shopping website.

With this action, eBay sends the clear message that they don't want or appreciate law-abiding gun owners' business. By banning these legal products, eBay is adopting the anti-gun movement's opposition to all legal gun ownership. Fortunately - as we also mentioned last week - gun owners and sportsmen have alternatives.

I think that there is a very good chance it will be anything that has the word 'gun' involved.

I have not sold anything, only bought a single item since the 'ban". My search for luger words has dropped from close to 500 items (pre-ban) to around 270 or so, so the sellers either are having their items bumped off or not risking it.

I just ran across this. I thought that mags under 10 rounds and parts as long as legal were ok?
I did try to sell a couple of sks shoulder straps and got banned. I tried to email ebay and tell them that it was a shoulder strap not a gun or gun part. but they would not contact me.
I gave up on them.

I had an Ebay account with over 500 transactions and 100% positive feedback that I had used for over 7 years.
I cancelled the account with this news and haven't looked back.

I just checked it out. no mags. not to many parts, I think one luber spring. What the heck kind of thinking is this. a mag that I can buy at walmart I can not pick up on ebay.

It was determined that the shooter involved in the Virgina Tech tragedy bought his magazine(s) on Ebay. That gave them a lot of bad press so they pulled magazines and most gun parts from their auctions.

I went through Ebay last week and I swear that I saw two Luger toggles for sale. Maybe my timing was such that I caught them before they were removed. But after reading this thread, I went to Ebay and entered my usual stuff for Lugers and I found quite a few Luger parts for sale. One was a carbine sling, about four side plates and a few small parts. The usual books, holsters and grips were also there. I was also surprised to see a five shot moon clip for Luger 9mm ammunition. I think that I will continue watching Ebay to see if there has been a change in policy of some sort.

The rules seem to apply only to components needed directly for the firing of a gun ie; barrels, slides, magazines and firing pins. Pins, screws, springs, grips and the like don't appear to be affected. The occasional 1911 firing pin seem to get thru, but you're right, a lot of Luger parts are gradually appearing again. I guess the geeks at ebay don't know what a toggle is really for. I managed to pick up a Luger extractor from a British guy, who just described the part as a Luger tool. It was up to the bidder to know what he was buying.
You guys over the pond had better really stand up for your 2nd ammendment rights, or it won't be too long before you have to be criminals to own a gun.

eBay is terrified of handling any items that the California moonbats consider "offensive." Sex toys and porn are often OK. Gun-related items, re-load equipment, even a collectable WWII German artifact was denied because it had an obscure Nazi marking that was just barely visible in the photos. I received a notice from eBay warning me about posting items depicting "hate speech."

Some of the gun parts vendors have been getting pretty crafty about their listing descriptions... Yesterday I saw a bolt for an M1 Garand listed as a Garand Chronograph Testing Device... Other replacement parts are being listed by just the description of "part" with the firearms's name... figuring that word searches will turn up the photo and the buyer will know what he is selling... For example if "M1A Op Rod" is the total description, it will likely get past the auction censors... ( A non gun person would have no idea what that is, but a U.S. Military gun enthusiast looking for an operating rod for an M1A would know immediately what the guy is selling).

Ebay is not staffed to 'police' every auction that is posted...so if you know what you are looking for, be creative in your word search and you just may find it on Ebay...

Just to add, I also have heard that Paypal will drop you if their service is used for gun parts and related items, go figure, they are owned by E-Bay. I still use Paypal for buying and selling of parts, I just get the payer to use "creative" terms for items gun related..................................B
