Default Does anyone know anything about this Walther

I am attending an estate auction in a remote area and in need of assistance. I found this pistol that has a tag identifying it as a Walther which caught my attention. Upon closer inspection, it has all the markings of a Walther. I first thought it to be some other manufacturer. Is this a rare or scarce pistol? Does anyone know the value of the pistol? I am without any help or resource whatsoever. Thanks, Mike B.

Mike B.

the picture is a Walther Model 4, .32 acp in our caliber, produced from roughly 1915 to 1923, basically this gun is a new version of the Model 3, increased grip lenght to move up from a 6 round mag to an 8 round mag and the barrel lenghtened from 67 mm to 85 mm..............

Model 4 was purchased in large number for German military in WW1....exactly how many were produced is unknown......but total may well have exceeded 100,000............

production of Model 4 continued after wars end with slideslide marking changed from Zella St Blasil to Zella Mehlis in 1919...........

slide stamp in pic makes this one photo'd an after war pistol

Value from Blue book @98% = 325 to a low of 80 for a 60 % gun

HTH, Regards, Paul

Thanks Paul,
I was really looking for Lugers and possibly a PPK when I came across this one. It really stumped me. Many thanks,
Mike

Paul,
BTW, In case you have not read my post in the PPK forum, I am looking for a Party Leader PPK bearing serial number 185091K. I owned this pistol in the 60's and have reason to believe it is or was on the market reciently. I would dearly love to have it back. If you happen upon it or know of it's whereabouts, please let me know.

Mike: I purchased 5 pistols out of an estate a couple of years ago and one of them was a Model 4. I took it to the range and it was a good little shooter and had a lot of fun with it so I ended up buying another one that was in a little better condition. I bought an after market mag for it but it didn't work well so I went ahead a picked up a couple of original mags and everything worked good. I can't really give you a value on the first one since it came in a group but the second Model 4 was $250.
