Default Best place to buy "Third Reich Lugers" Book by Jan C. Still?

I think the time has come that I need a really good Luger reference book... I have held off on buying one because when I was younger I would put every dollar I had towards Lugers or German militaria.

-What is a fair price to pay for one of these books?
-Where should I look for one?

If my interests are strictly Third Reich made Lugers, would this book be best for me? Or are there others I should buy as well?

If someone can help me out with these questions it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rylan

Rylan, Third Reich Lugers is an excellent reference. I just bought one recently on Amazon.com and paid $325.00 for it (it was the cheapest one that they had and it was in excellent condition). They seem to run around $300 and up and seem to be as much collectors items as the Lugers themselves. Fred Datig's Luger book is old but good; Kenyon's Lugers at Random is a good basic book and both are considerably cheaper than Jan Still's books.

Good luck in your Luger collecting. You are smart to be buying reference books from the beginning. I wish I had.

They're not inexpensive anywhere. The best copies I could find now are:

One for $356.25:

Here's one for $374.95:

Thanks for the info, I made a post in the Wanted section of this forum too. I guess I will keep my eyes open for a copy of the book. If these books are worth so much money, why doesn't the author make more!?

This has been discussed before, and not to speak for Jan, but he doesn't get these prices if he republishes, he gets the "normal" price he can get for it.

At this time, Jan is working on a rewrite of 3rd Reich Lugers, although it will be another 6-8 months (my guess) before he gets it to his house and for sale.

Point is that if he republishes, he has to come up with the money for 2,000-3,000 books. That is a lot of money

Hi Edward, thanks for letting me know! I wasn't aware that Jan was coming out with a new version of Third Reich Lugers... I might just wait to get the new copy and save myself some money. I can't wait for it, this is very good news. Is it confirmed that he will be selling this new book?

I also agree that it costs a lot to make this book, but why can't they just print off more books once they sell out? I'm sure this must be a reason, but I am not very familiar with how this sort of thing works.

PS... I don't see any "Johnny Cash" here
