Default 1917

I bought a 1917 as a shooter and have read many stickies and posts but have a question. Its a dwm and has a 2 digit serial but no suffix. I havent seen any others without a suffix can anyone explain why ? Also I dont see a serial on the barrel just 8.83 but the witness marks are looking real good , same width aligned perfectly . Are their cases of lugers without barrel serials the threads Ive read suggest no. Last question is there any reason why it would have swiss grips ?Its all matching and reblued not sure when it was reblued but Im afraid to break a part now. I just might have a shooter safe queen .

The first 10000 did not have a suffix. Then on to a etc. New year started no suffix again. Should have a serial number on the barrel. Since a reblue it may have been buffed off. The only reason it would have Swiss grips is someone put them on there. Never came from the factory that way. With the grips, serial number and reblue you have a very nice shooter. Take it out and enjoy it!!. Bill
