They have already declined bids of $1650. So how much are you willing to pay over that price? Seems to me that it getting right up against top dollar on that one.
It does seem like an honest wartime Luger.

In my imagination, German would not re-number that magazine to make it match. Why did German care that number, it shoots then it's OK, it's just a tool in its era.

Let's assume viewers ignore that magazine and bid accordingly, so let's put the magazine aside. Not a big deal as long as it's not counted. The right panel does not fit the gun well, most likely it's a replacement. Let's also assume it's German did it. The left panel fits well, but has a chip on upper corner. Let's assume that caused by battle usage. The safety lever was refinished, let's assume it's done by German field gunsmith...... the list could go on and on....

If the attractive point is nice bore, it might perform well, it has some value, but should be described accordingly.

I would think that $1650 is high estimate for Luger + holster + magazines/tool....OK, maybe a couple hundred more...

As you well know, I am not a collector...But WW II Luger, 42 or S/42 seem to be what entry level buyers like...WW II mystique maybe...And this looks in very good shape, to my untrained eye...$1400 is my top dollar for pistol itself; others may say holster is worth a couple hundred (or maybe not), and two mags worth a couple hundred also...

That would be my reasoning...But remember, I have no interest in holsters or extra magazines [needless extravagances], so I would not bid over $1400...But if you are buyer who likes 'rig', then upwards of maybe $1850 would not be out of order, in my mind...If it is what you have your heart set on...

Edit: Also no export stamp...Means nothing to new buyer, but may affect price if later sold to collector...

Edit2: I am looking at pic of toggles, and the hinges look either extremely dirty, or maybe evidence of...

He also has a "G" date for sale...

I would suggest you ask for detailed pictures of the "matching" magazine.

Also insure that the tool is properly marked.

Agreed. On second look the matching mag. is suspect. Need to see closeups of that part and also the front frame nmubers. I'm not seeing a big problem with the grip panels or finish on the saftey lever and am assuming that it is a strawed part worn silver. But my suggestion that $1650 is top dollar stands.

This was what I was kinda thinking too - but I appreciate everyone's feedback. Sounds to me like it may have some minor issues (what wouldn't being this old?), but is probably pretty solid. I'm particularly interested because its a '36, the fact that its a "rig" is a nice bonus.

There's a male Belly Dancer in LA who reputedly commands a $1K price for a standard 15-20 minute performance. I'm not that good, not that famous, and not in LA. Where I am, about $75-$100 is the going rate for a Belly Dancer of either gender - and not much demand.

My latest paying gig was $100/each for myself and another (female) dancer. I easily spend twice that per month on classes - so it won't pay for Lugers for sure!
