Can we call a luger a pump gun?

If a pimp owned a luger; would you say he has class/taste?

Tell the truth: if you saw this pimp gun, you would still pick it up and look at it?

1. Aabsolutely, there are examples of Lugers we (at least, I) would feel comfortable in calling a "Pimp gun". I've seen a couple of examples pointed out on this board

2. If a pimp owned a Luger, I'd say at least that his weapons consciousness/esthetic was out of the ordinary.

3. Would I pick this gun up and look at it? Absolutely! Its different, it stands out, I'd be immensly curious.

I'll go you one further: the recent "pimp gun" discussions have got me thinking. If I had a -totally- mismatched, garden-variety Luger (one of the legendary "$250 shooters") I might be tempted to "pimp it up" a bit, add a bit of personal/custom ownership fillips. I -certainly- wouldn't wreck any kind of collectible gun.

Anybody else share this dirty little secret, or have I just placed myself in the muddy part of the field?

Don't tell anyone, but I have a couple of nickel plated Lugers, a 4" and an Arty, and I LIKE THEM!

OK guys, I had to jump in on this thread myself. In all honesty, I think the "Pimp Special" is pretty with the gold. Now with that said, you can all jump on me for it, ha, ha, ha. Seriously, I agree with Dwight, if it is a mismatch shooter, what the heck, make it pretty and enjoy the non Luger guys ooh and ahh over it. I guess some of my Southern Redneck just showed through on my statement.

So the truth comes out...................

I knew I wasn't the only one who liked chrome/gold lugers.

I don't think we are bad people for admiring them (big group support hug).

It would be a sin to do this to a "good" luger; but, I would like to have one-maybe chrome/not gold.

Wow, what a gun to show to your friends/"normals"!

Flash/class, now cash.....

How much would one of these "flashers" cost.

I've seen some at gun shows, but they think they have something (saw one f/ $1200-"It's really rare"-HA/HA/HA!").

No really, how much could one cost to build?

I get tired of just having black guns in safe.

capkid,

Once you had the cost of a shooter Luger, Have someone like Thor refinish the metal, the Gold Plating should not cost that much because the plating is so thin the amount of Gold is very little. At one time there was a company that sold a Gold Plating outfit for the novice. It included the Gold, solution and all was needed was a tank/pot and a battery. The process was an electrochemical plating process. Therefore, I don't think there would be a great cost involved. The metal prep would be the most important part of the cost.
