The blue sure doesn't look like rust blue to me...
I vote for a post-war gunsmith fantasy...

This is similar to what I did, and the action wouldn"t cycle.

The action would have to be fine tuned with a custom mainspring
if it is going to function with all that weight on the "moving" half of the engineering. It may not even be possible to balance the mainspring to provide a light enough influence on the toggle to allow ejection while maintaining enough resistance to feed and chamber the next round.

Re: Yeah right!
Hi Folks,
A lot of very strange Lugers came out of the 1920â??s - donâ??t be so quick to dismiss this one. Based solely on what I can see in the photos Iâ??d give it a 90% chance that it is the genuine article - a special order Luger from DWM. Best regards, Kyrie |

Long Barrel Lugers
Hi,
Have been trying to look at some pictures of long barrel Lugers in Kenyons book and have a question for all of you on the barrel. The pictures I see of a normal 1920, 1923 commercial all have a "sharpe" barrel band. The pictures in Still's book, "Weimar Lugers", shows the commercial Lugers of the 1920's with sharpe barrel bands. It looks to me like the pictures in Kenyon's "World of Lugers" shows long barrel's of the 1920's with lengths of 6", 8", and longer all with the sharpe barrel band. This would lead me to believe that any long barrel made of this time frame would have a sharpe barrel band and not a rounded barrel band, but this is only speculation on my part. I would be very skeptical of a rounded barrel band on these and was wondering what you thought? |

Re: Long Barrel Lugers
The scope appears to be a ZF 41 which was not issued until 1941. This would be the wrong time frame for a DWM manufactured pistol. The scope had a 21" eye relief, so it probably fit the bill for a cobbled together pistol with scope. It is hard enough to see through the ZF 41 when mounted on a rifle, so it would be practically impossible to hand hold the pistol and view through the scope.
