Mark, glad you are happy! Take a little PRESTON BRAKE CLEANER and spray it carefully (dont get any on ya) on a qutip swab, then go over GENTLY the fire blued parts, with the oil off them, they are quite pretty. The grip screws are a good example, they will take on a hue like the sear spring. Walmart sells it for about $1.25 a can. Thor

Well, I did a K for Lonnie Zimmerman, one for Bob Tracy, one for Mark, and I have a shooter K I am fixing up for me. There are a few out there. Thor

Thor, a beautiful job, well done. I noticed that in the pictures that the front of the trigger is 'fat' or thick whereas all of mine are quite thin. Is this something peculiar to the 'K' or possibly lighting or camera angle?

Here are several I have reworked, notice that all three have the set back front sight block, I think they all have the thickened trigger but I guess that is subjective. or this one!

Thor, I mean the front of the trigger curl, that portion nearest the muzzle as seen in the first picture.

oops!!! sorry Herb!! Didnt read it too well the first time. I dont know the answer to your question, but I notice that K dates in Still's Third Reich Lugers on page 24 and 26 seem to have a thickened FRONT trigger hook! Both of those are later variations and Mark's is a third variation by the serial number and looks a lot like the 3rd var to 4th var transition Luger shown on page 24 viewed from the right side.

Thanks guys and thank you Thor. The gun is all matching except for the mag and those lousy East German "Bullseye" plastic grips. (replaced) She is going to the range on Sunday for another date with me, however, I took her out with 150 rounds before she had her prom dress on. Sunday is the prom and the dress looks great ..... I don't even need my moms 69 VW bus to take her to look out!!, point.... <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />
I think I have a new girlfriend and, just don't tell the wife who I have been with.... <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" /> |

A keen observation on the thick trigger! I would imagine that the since this is a non-critical dimension, it could be something as simple as a particular batch of triggers were made this way.
Here is an extract of the Offical Luger Blueprints from 1913 for those interested in the dimensions... I have not seen any later blueprints for the Mauser Lugers produced in the 30's and 40's...

Wonder why the setback sight was used on K some dates? Mine is a first variation without the hump and with the setback front sight. Some say a left over setting from the 3 & 3/4" 1920 Commercial Luger (Alphabet Lugers) barrel length days.
