Default Fired 198 rounds from ASTRA 900

Fired 198 rounds (7,63, PRVI) from a small ring hammer Astra 900 last weekend. Found one issue.

The sight leaf and sight slide are numbered to the gun, but leaf/slide fitting was not tight enough and inferior comparing with that of Mauser's. While shooting with stock attached, there was no problem. But the sight slide moved forward by itself while shooting the gun off hand. In one scenario, the sight slide raised the sight leaf high enough and I found the leaf was half way out of it's pivot holding recess after shooting 10 rounds. I was so surprised because it had took me considerable amount of effort to move the sight leaf out in disassembling process a few days earlier, the spring under the sight leaf was strong. Pushing the sight leaf back was easy, but it's annoying.

Have you met similar issue on early Astra 900?

Kind of boring yeah, but overall a nice experience, I guess.
How was the grouping?

The gun has mismatched bolt and bolt stop, and the magazine follower is unnumbered. Otherwise, it's matching. The bore is very good.

Comparing with Mauser small rings (I have never fired any CH nor LRH), 10-round distribution of this Astra 900 on target paper was bigger. It's an indoor range, only 10 yards. Shooting off hand gave a group of palm size. With stock attached, the performance improved dramatically, it's easy to punch 10 holes on the center black pie (5 cm diameter). The feeling of trigger pull on Astra is better than that of Mauser's.

=====

It's interesting to notice that many Astra 900 instances imported from China (this one is not) have Mauser sight slide and button installed. Probably the original Astra sight assembly on those guns were weak and broken, it's hard to find Astra parts, so Mauser parts were used..... this one's sight assembly is original, and it's weak.

You are probably the only guy around who has put this many rounds thru a Astra 900 at one time in 60 years!
I commend you!
Bob

Other cultures use "boring" as we would say "frustrating" or "annoying".
