I think that's a Chaing Jaing (CJ) the Chinese copy of that BMW. They are still made.

Yup! Most of the Motorcycle-sidecar combinations you see at reenactments are CJs made up to look like wartime Beemers. You have to find an older, (1980s-90s) one, as the newer ones are getting more and more "improvements" and are getting further away from the wartime product.

You might want to also check into URAL motorcycles... they make the same model, and probably a little better quality...

I subscribe to Cycle World and they occasionally have an article/test of a Ural...But as you point out, they are slowly upgrading to 'newer' OHV models of the opposed-twin...
Edit: There is a dealer in Buffalo, about an hour's drive away...I sent them an email... Yeah, that Luger carbine looks about as attainable as my 'dating' [coff, coff] Eva Langoria...
