Default Mauser Navy??

Hi.
Just a few weeks ago I bought my first P08.... allready I am looking at a second one.... (remember our max 5 gunlaw)

Owner calls it a Navy, with 6" barrel and produced by Mauser!? As far as I know this could never be a real navy, could it?
Have asked him for more info like the year it was build, if it has markings of some kind and if it has matching numbers.
He also says it is in a perfect condition and comes with 2 mags, original tool and the original factory test-shot-chart (don't know the correct translation)
See pics. Sorry for the small size; it's all I have at this moment.

Peet, it is probably one of the Mauser's that they made in the 1970's...

See the section under post WW2 lugers.

It isn't a Navy. It is a 6-inch barrel 1970's vintage "Original Mauser". Even with the small pictures you can spot the later production by the shape of the grips by the grip screw...the bottom of the grips are straight rather than curved.

Peet,

Your photo looks like this one for sale with Doug Smith of FGS, Inc. They want nearly $ 1600 for this boxed one.

It is a 1970's P-06 with a 6" barrel. They came both in 9 mm and 7,65 mm.

Your photo is not a Navy luger in the traditional sense (Imperial/WWI or Weimar era) and is not one of the 1980's Mauser commemoritive Navy lugers, either. Those have a facsimile of the Navy rear sight that is adjustable.

Peet,
the thumb safety lever is different too. Its arm is flat like a later model Swiss instead of curved as on a P-04.

Yep, you all were right;
this gun is from 1972, has no special markings/stamps and comes in the same box as in Pete's picture.
Also with tool and cleaningrod.

The price is about $1150

I'm going to pass on this one; not what I'm looking for.

Peet.
