After talking to another fellow. . .I think they may be proof marks as each letter has an individual crown above it and the eagle looks Prussian. Thanks everyone, sorry to lead you on a wild goose chase. I will upload a picture later today

Jim,

Erfurt proofed nearly every part on their Lugers. Including the grip screws.
