Post '04 Marine Pistole

All,

I finally took the plunge. Have successfully concluded negotiations for '04 Navy. I am now 8really* "Luger poor". As a result, I am selling everything that is Non-Navy except my VonRibbentrop piece and the two engraved Mausers. See my list in FS area-prices reduced for sale.

Have pix of the '04 that I will share.

Sounds cool Tom.

Now, I have figured (without even reading between the lines), that if you are "forced" to sell lots of your prized Lugers, that an 04 Navy is one of the most rare pieces!

So (not monetarily), how rare is a piece like this? Obviously coming across one in the proper shape and condition must be THE factor in your decisions.

I have been following this particular piece for about 8 years. I know the provenance to pre-W.W.II.
It is one of about a half dozen or so "Genuine" '04s that are known. Almost all one encounters are fake. It is an ultra rare piece and the most expensive I have purchased at $7.5K above what I paid for a mint '02 carbine rig some years ago.

So, I should research this so I don't sound toooo stupid, but my 10 books or so have little about the 04 Navy.

Rare because maybe 100 made and many were destroyed by sinking ships, on land battles etc?

Is it exceedingly rare also because it is a an in-between model?

Thanks for any information you can give.
