Refrence books that are a must?

I know that on the old board this was discussed before, but I think it needs to be re-visited. I just got in a most wonderful book "Luger Holsters and Accessories" by Frank Bender. All I can say is WOW. [img]smile.gif[/img] What an incredible work, I picked it up on Ebay for $56! It is HUGE at 630+ pages.

I will list the books that I would consider a MUST for every collector.
1) Imperial LugerÃ¢??s and Their Accessories. Jan C Still
2) Weimar and Early Nazi LugerÃ¢??s and Their Accessories by Jan C Still
3) Third Reich LugerÃ¢??s and Their Accessories - Volume III by Jan C Still
4) Luger Holsters & Accessories Eugene Bender
5) LugerÃ¢??s at Random -- by Charles Kenyon, Jr
6) Luger Tips - Revised Edition Michael Reese II
7) The Luger Handbook -- by Aaron Davis (Great for gun shows)
And for the newer gun Mauser guns
The Mauser Parabellum by Francis C Allen.

So what did I miss?

Doug, add Sam Costanzo's World Of Lugers Proof Marks, Harry Jone's Luger Variations, Fred Datig's The Luger Pistol, John Walter's The Luger Book and The Luger Story and for great pictures, Charles Kenyon's Luger:The Multi-National Pistol. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

I don't have all of those, but I have many of them! In their own right, they are great, many will have a picture or two of Lugers in action or from a different angle, coloration, etc., and so more books never hurts!

If any interest in the Dutch Lugers, then The Dutch Luger, by Martens and de Vries is excellent.

You might add The Krieghoff Parabellum by Gibson. It's an excellent book about Krieghoff's and helpful in telling the difference between all types of Lugers (DWM, Erfurt, Simson, Mauser).

And I would add Vittorio Bobba's Swiss Parabellum book for anyone interested in both DWM swiss lugers and those made by W+F Bern in Switzerland...pricely at $ 100 new, but well worth the learning-investment...! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

I have several of the books mentioned and value each of them for one reason or another. I've bought them within the last few months since I'm only recently "Luger aware."

In addition to its excellent content, Still's "Imperial Lugers" is a beautiful book: heavy coated paper, superior binding, first-rate photography and high-quality printing. An exceptional value!

Especially for beginners with a low book budget I recommend the four e-books on Lugers by G. Henrotin.
