That would be ironic: The fed's get all excited about you forging a money order in order to screw with a thief, the same thief that they ignored...
But the more I think about it, the more that is starting to sound like "business as usual".

This morning's update. I've stalled over the weekend by suggesting that my truck would not start, to get me to the bank, P.O., etc. They've emailed a couple of times asking when it will be sent. This morning, I responded by saying I have a buddy out there that will meet them face-to-face at a gun shop there to do the transaction, and asked for their phone number so "he" can call them to set up an appointment. Next time, I'll give them the number for the BATFE in Columbus, and perhaps the agent's name for a contact.

We have our own Luger Forum Soap Opera!! I am really enjoying this saga. I just wish that the slimeballs would get arrested and prosecuted.

Make sure to tell them that he is a nice POLICEMAN friend who lives close by who has offered to come look at the pistol. See if they give you a time and place for them to meet.

If you expect them to go for it, I wouldn't make it sound too threatening or they will see that the trap isn't worth the bait.

I figure that any agency with the time, personnel, and resources would jump at the chance to sting some perps and haul them in. Oops! I forgot...that would be happening in my personal perfect fantasy world! I think this info I provided is now enshrined in a manila folder, filed away in the order in which it was received. Any further developments on that front, I'm afraid, will not come quickly.

No, there's nothing I can do except yank their chain with a few more emails bearing false hope of free money. The fun is diminished somewhat by the knowledge that nothing much, really, will probably happen. A few more emails and I'll be tired of it, but will post if I come up with a funny one...

I generally only buy from known independent dealers, such as simpsons, etc. or individuals or sellers on Gunbroker with substantial positive feedback. Or, when someone walks in the door with a good deal.

Default The end?

Three days ago, I emailed saying I had a buddy who would meet them at a gun shop for a ftf deal, and asked for their phone number so I could forward it to him. I have not heard a peep since.

On Armslist I have also encountered whack0s.

Either the knowledge that the pistol was listed on several sites, or the phony FFL would have nipped this in the bud--and I had both. Thanks for the first one, Brother, and thanks to Bill McGuire of Interlaken Guns and Ammo for the latter. He always checks. Some, he says, don't always, and that's where the risk is.

I've made tons of gun and gun-related purchases from all sorts of auctions and classified sites and forums (I had to join a couple to buy guns, even). However, I'm not trafficking high-end collectibles. Shooters don't have much potential of great profit for scammers, so this probably explains why I've only ever encountered honest people so far.

Oh, and I think this is the same people again http://www.gunlistings.org/indiana-g...zi_not_dwm_ww2

If I can't buy with a credit card, I don't buy. Never would I send a moneyorder or check. If the deal says money order only, I move on.
