Luger identifcation /value in current condition

I have luger in what I would say is poor condition. the inscription on the toggle is DWM, there is no chamber inscription, the toggles are dished, there is a grip safety and no stock lug. it is chambered in 30 Luger. the proof mark on the receiver is crown over B crown over U( number 3) and on the barrel is crown over B crown over U crown over G (number 1). it is missing magazine, magazine catch, ejector, extractor, mainspring, and trigger plate. the Finnish actually looks like paint that is chipping off.

Well, the dished toggle tells us it is a 1900, and the BUG proofs are a commercial marking, not military. It seems to me that the side plate is the only numbered part that is missing, the other stuff is un-numbered and a bit more generic.
Can we see some better photos and the full serial number too?
I'm wondering if some one didn't simply spray paint over the original finish?

interesting - I have seen british lugers with a almost paint finish.

As said above, would be interested in learning more. I like 1900's and even in poor shape someone like me would still look to buy one.

I am out of town until Wednesday I will take better pictures when I get back. The serial number is 4727 with no letter after.

Well, unless it is an effect of the paint chipping, the pistol looks to be in semi-relic condition.
I hope to be wrong and going to wait for another round of pictures.

Try to take them outside later in the afternoon using indirect light or shade~ You will see a big difference. Don't use zoom just move the camera closer. If your has a macro setting you can try it. Mine doesn't and come out fine~ One other thing I noticed you are useing a white background that under exposes every shot causing your subject to come out way too dark. A camera will focus on the brightest object which now is you background and not the subject. Find a more neutral back ground maybe a place mat. Eric

hard to say, looks pretty rough, then the outdoor shots don't look so bad.

Literally clean it up and see, but I would be very careful what you take to it.

What's the story? Plan on keeping?

You will be missing all the fun. Buy from member possibly a safe shooter because if you wait until restored you may be looking at months and costs of a full restoration or rework not to mention the unforseens! The outcome may not be worth the bucks or expidations. You will never get back anywhere near the time and prolonged costs and wait. Take some time to deside. I understand your first always holds a sentimal attachment. You will spend much less in time, costs and anxiety by putting efforts to a nice mismatched safe gun now that you can go the the range and impress the on lookers! Eric

One thing for sure, most anything you do will be an improvement, as long as you don't etch or move metal, so take it very slow... First thing I'd do is remove the grips, disassemble the unit, and soak the gun parts in in acetone, lacquer thinner, maybe even paint stripper... Then a quick dip in muriatic acid, (removes all bluing) wash and oil...and see what remains??... you're going to have to carefully inspect each part, and replace the missing ones... lot'sa fun really...

... Then when all is good to go, re-finish and re-straw....you'll be a lot more Luger smart when you're through! .....

If that is spray paint you might get it off without destroying the remaining bluing. Good luck. Looks like someone painted it without even removing the grips.

Coreo, I have all the M1900 parts that you are missing, except an original M1900 side plate with trigger lever, but you should be able to get it to function with a Po8 side plate and modified lever. TH PS: depending how it cleans up & bore condition, this relic may not be worth putting back into shooting condition.

Sorry, I don't want to sound like the usual grumbler, but what are we talking about?
With all the respect, but if the inside of the barrel is like the outide of that gun I would NOT even think about using it at the range!
It's probably DANGEROUS !
With a bit of patience you can find hundreds of shootable Lugers on the marker.
