Pete, Earlier you asked about holsters being made with black thread. It was fairly common. I am working on a 1934 Army and it was built originally with black thread, fairly thick too.
I have noted Police and Navy holsters made with black thread. You are right, many holsters were made with a lighter color and later darkned with some substance. Open up the holster and generally the stitching inside will indicate the original color. A very nice Krieghoff or Luftwaffe holster....Jerry Burney
