Default 1913 Erfurt 'Artillery' Luger

Went to a gun show today and saw a 1913 Erfurt 'Artillery'

Luger for sale for $1200. I'd say 70% original finish

with undamaged wood grips. All matching numbers until I turned it over and saw a different number on the barrel...

Wouldn't this gun be close to the asking price if the guy had left the original barrel on?

If the 1913 date you gave was no typo, the pistol had been put together. There were no 1913 dated LP08's made. With everything matching except the barrel, it sounds like an LP08 barrel added to a standard 1913 military. Did you notice if the rear toggle link appeared to be ground? The standard 4" Erfurt would have had a rear sight. Also, in 1913 the Erfurt was made with and without the stock lug.

Default JP, Are you sure it isn't a 1920 commercial? Smile! (EOM)

Hi John,

Sounds like a parts gun. Value is shooter value only, in the range of about $600 - $700 if mechanically sound.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Kyrie

Being a 'newbie', all I can recall is it did

have a rear sight and for sure 1913 date.

I'm guessing the dealer was trying to fool someone

by putting the longer barrel on the gun. Why not

leave the entire gun matching? Greed I guess...
