Any information on this P08 marking:
S.Op.V.210 (maybe 2L0)

Schutzpolizei of the Oppeln district, Command V (located in either Hindenburg, Beuthen or Ratibor), P08 number 210. May I know more about the pistol for my database of police markings?

Serial number is: 1830
Another marking: year 1918 and year 1920 on top of the breech, DWM marking on top of the breech and type N on the left side breech.

I´m sorry on my English. I´m from Czech Republic and English I speek not much.

Hello Kurt and welcome to the forum!

The "1918" on top of the receiver is the year your DWM Luger was manufactured.

The "1920" mark is a Weimar Republic property mark (not a date) that indicates it was re-worked after WW-I for use by the police agency Don mentioned.

A Crown over "N" mark would be a commercial Nitro proof, which I wouldn't expect to see on a German military firearm. Is it possible that the pistol was re-proofed in Cz at some later time?

Please post pictures. They will help with identification.

Is there a letter under the "1830" serial number on the front of the frame above the trigger guard? If so, it is part of the serial number.

Thanks for answer.
The pistol was founded in one old house on garret with one P38 pistol and one FN HP35 pistol.
The pistol P08 is not in good condition.
Photos I make today evening, or tomorrow.

And yes, is possible, thet the gun was re-proofed. I know only this - the pistol was bringed members on Czech Army Corps (East front) on the end of WWII to city Cheb (Eger). In year 1945 was Cheb city in German empire. After year 1945 Cheb city in Czech republic. Pistol changed several owners. Last owner placed the gun on garret in his house. When the owner die, I have the pistol find in greasy cloth. The history from 1945 to today is unknown.

This pistol was probably unfinished at the end of the war despite the low letter suffix (c), assembled for the police and commercially proofed. Although it is in rough shape, it is a real gem!

Kurt, do you know what city/town the gun was found in?

All P08 are pretty. This is in no good condition, but is functional. She has bad barrel. Yesterday I fired 32 shot without failure. Now the pistol sleep in the safe. For me is P08 lovely pistol. Together with P38.

Thanks for the location. I was wondering if it was close to where it saw police service. Apparently not but this is consistent with it beeing a Bereitshaftspolizei pistol (without Schiwy or Walther safeties). These pistols and their owners were transferred to the Landespolizie and then the military in 1934-35 and saw subsequent service in various occupied parts of Europe. It's a shame the pistol can't tell us more about where it's been but it already has a fascinating history.
