Default S/42 Magazine?

Hello, all,

Would this be a correct spare magazine for a 1940 chamber dated S/42 P.08?

Thanks!

P.08s manufactured by Mauser in 1940 had a toggle code of 42.

Thus for a correct, 1940 code 42 pistol, a code 42 armorer's replacement would be correct.

But, perhaps its the photography, but your magazine with a code 42 stamp appears to be plated. It should have a blued body. The last plated body magazine was made in 1936 and an armorer's replacement for that time frame would have be marked S/42. Not to say that its impossible but certainly out of the norm.

A 1940 dated P.08 would not have a S/42 toggle code.

Thanks!

I stand corrected; the toggle on my pistol reads 42, not S/42. The gun is chamber dated 1940 and is serial numbered 537f.

I just purchased the pictured mag. It seems to be unused, just somewhat dirty. The mag body appears to be steel, in the white, but not plated. The pin that holds the aluminum base is blued and untouched, so I don't think that the body has been switched.

I have another mag for the gun as well. It's mismatched, has Weimar eagles, and the mag body is definitely nickle plated.

It is a spare magazine. With some fortune one can find spare mags for all "Luger types" of every time space (Navy, Imperial time, Police K-date, G-date and so on).

For a while I was grabbing up every spare I could, but eventually was forced to sell almost all
