If thats a lazy c/N proof on the receiver it is a 1906 Navy Commercial. Any chance for a better photo of the frame front to read the serial number?

Thanks much for the clear picture. This gun was manufactured after 1911, and recorded in Hans Tauscher's sales records as being sold in New York in September, 1913. At that time it had a complete stock rig. --Dwight |

Dwight, the production date is interesting since the safety is in the military "unaltered" position; safe with the thumb lever up

Very interesting indeed, thanks for catching that one. This gun is listed in the middle of Costanzo's massive listing of Hans Tauscher's serial numbers, so there is not surrounding data for comparison. I wonder if this is an example of DWM's rumored useage of surplus or rejected military parts for commercial production? --Dwight |
