1917 Erfurt P08 unit markings

1917 Erfurt P08 with unit markings on front grip srtap
M.G.S. s.a.74. Need help identifying the unit.

A photo of the unit marking would help as your lower and upper case letters are questionable. I believe it's M.G.S.S.A.74. which would be Maschine Gewehr Scharf-Schutzer Abteilung 74.

Thank you for the reply. I believe you are correct all letter are upper case but different sizes. The M. G. are 3mm high. The S is 5mm high, S.A. are 3mm high and 74 is 3.5mm high. The weapon has been buffed and reblued. I do not feel they will photograph well.
