Default S.Sh.???

Here's a marking I've not seen before on a police Luger for sale by Simpson: http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...ducts_id=6090. Perhaps a very early 1920s marking?

Hi Don,
* Trust you noted the marked holster as well. Looks like "S.B.5262."

Bob,

I did not notice it. I must be slipping! Thanks very much for pointing it out -- it may be a clue to identifying the pistol marking, if they were really together in service. The S.B.5262. marking is from the Charlottenburg Inspektion of Berlin.

I suspect the marking on the pistol was a Sicherheitspolizei marking and that it was canceled when the Schupo marking orders were issued in April 1922. The puzzle is why it was not replaced with a regulation Schupo marking. The sear and mag safeties indicate the pistol remained in police service until at least 1934. This is quite consistent with the 1933 manufacture date of the holster.
