I lived in DC for three years. Definately not a quality place to live. I liked it best in my rear view mirror as I left.

Everywhere has its pitfalls at sometime of the year. The best place to live is where your
family and friends live.

Hurricanes suck!!!!! There is mandatory evacuation closer to the coast, but where? The hurricane is heading north on I-95. Sitting ducks with thousands of cars going no where! We have gas, generators and all my luger goodies are gorilla taped shut in 3 blue tupperware blue boxs, Besides lugers are holsters, artillery and navy boards, rare ammo drum, loader etc. For some like myself this is my luger IRA. They say another one is right behind! God Bless you all for you kind thoughts and prayers. Debby is my God sent! TKS for now!

Well, if you take a glance at the thermometer, you will find the temp reads the same at -42 degrees C or F. Anything past about 30 below (farenheit) is just cold. A lot of stuff will just start failing at about -45. Except the woodstove. It always works, so long as you feed it.

I did, in 1970-71. I worked at a funeral home on Wilson Blvd. in Arlington, across the street from Sears. (I think it is a subway stop now.) The big snow that winter was about 2-3." My tracks were the only ones on the way to work! Being raised in Northern NY was good practice for snow and cold.

+1 on the trouble there.

Eric, Debbie and you are in our prayers. You appear to be very well prepared. God bless!

Lived in DC for 54 years. Winters are too cold, experienced a few
2 foot snows. Then it warms up just enough to turn it all to ice.
I recall 2 weeks when you could cross the frozen river to VA. on foot. Heat and humidity in the summer rivals any southern city with the added joy that there is often no air movement at all. Only thing I deal with here is heat, and with almost no humidity and an ever present breeze it's not bad at all. Sure beats what my wife's siblings are dealing with in Houston.

I was born in Washington, DC but was brought to Virginia at the age of three days. Although I now live within a hundred miles of the place, I never go into that swamp.

Gee Eric, what did I ever do to you. Sarasota is a beautiful city.

You should be feeling sorry for us!!

We've battened down the hatches and are staying put for the duration.

John, I meant no harm! Yes I've have friends on the west coast. I wish them the best! All our state is going to get our butts kicked! I mearly made the comment that we are no longer in the deadly cone. The problem is that our east coast had a few more days to prepare! The problem is where does it go from there??? Maybe it will keep a westerly track into the gulf!!!! This year really suggs! http://abc11.com/weather/irma-latest...orida/2364973/
