Default Surgery today. Prayer requested.

Friends,

I am having surgery on my right thumb today. A freak accident with a spring loaded oven door hinge severed the nerves and tendons in my right hand last week.

Your prayers are solicited for an accurate and successful surgery and restoration of the sense of touch and use of my right thumb. This last week has not been one of my favorite experiences...I can't even hold a gun in my right hand at the moment!

3 to 6 months of intensive physical therapy is on the horizon...

Thanks in advance...

I will report back as soon as I can.

Good luck and my prayers go out to you!

I lost the use of my right shoulder some years back and can no longer shoot rifles right handed...So since I have to shoot lefty anyway, I'm gradually switching over to left handed pistol shooting...

...It's...Interesting...

Best wishes and we'll be praying for your expedited recovery.
That having been said, better dig in for long re-hab. Nerves re-generate at a painfully slow pace.

When I was in high school, I severed the nerve that provides sense to the inside half of my right pinky. For a year or so, it was as if that half of my pinky (from midline top of pinky to midline bottom of pinky) was numbed with novacaine. Then as time went on, I regained sensation. Today when I touch that area, I can tell there's a slight difference in sensation but for all intents and purposes, the sensation came back.

Good luck to you!

Good luck and some of the luck will be if you follow doctor's orders. It works better that way.

I will be very happy to include you in my daily prayers John. I too am a stickler for maintaining a strict therapy schedule and although it can be uncomfortable early on the reward makes it all worthwhile.

I guess you won't be doing any hitch-hiking for awhile. Just stay home and recuperate.
