Default Raffle for Katrina relief efforts!

Hereâ??s your chance!

Mauser re-intro Parabellum!

Model 06/73 (German style grip frame) with 100 mm barrel chambered for the 9 mm Parabellum. Unfired, with matching box, extra magazine, Luger tool, and cleaning rod. Does not have the ownerâ??s manual or test target. The box is somewhat shopworn as is usual with these. The action has been cycled by hand and the rear of the frame bears the little mark that the toggle tail leaves. otherwise perfect. Serial number 11.0131XX

$20 for a chance. Six chances for $100. If the total does not exceed $1200 the raffle will be canceled and money refunded or sent on to the relief effort as the participant may indicate. Entry will be closed when the total reaches $2400.

85% of the total will go to human relief, 15% will go to animal relief, both in the Luger Forumâ??s name.

I have not made a final decision on the specific organizations as of yet and am somewhat open to suggestions. Leading candidate at the moment for human relief is the Salvation Army.

Ed Tinker has offered to help with the nuts and bolts of running this on the forum. (Nowâ??s the time to jump in Ed!) We may also post this on Jan Sillâ??s Luger forum and the S&W forum. (Stay tuned folks, there may be a S&W up for raffle shortly.)

I will plan to draw a name October 15th, or sooner if the upper limit is reached before October 12th.

Cost of shipping from this end will come out of the proceeds. Please check your local and state laws regarding receipt of this pistol. (Last time I checked, the German style frames were NOT on the C&R list, it will have to go to a regular dealer FFL.)

Send check or money order to me:

Noel, Sounds Noble and generous of you to contribute. I am sending my 20 bucks. Send it to the relief effort whatever happens. I know many have contributed in many ways but it's a small sum and will help.

Thanks for pitching in...Jerry Burney

I applaud your initiative in helping our brothers and sisters. After returning from relief efforts in New Orleans and actually flying over the entire devastated area picking up survivors and whatever was left of their belongings (mostly a change of clothes and some wet pictures), I will have to say that we should be able to at least afford $20 to help those MUCH less fortunate. I suggest that instead of stopping at $2400, do it for 10 days and try to collect as much as possible. I will get my check out today as well. God Bless you all for your charities in times of uncertainty.
Thanks, Tony S.

A very generous fellow collector for sure. Hopefully everyone has already contributed somehow, either through workplace, Red Cross, etc.
A check goes out to you tomorrow.

project here.....check to follow, Tony to you, bless you and all GC who always put other first.

Default $2400 upper limit.

I would certainly be glad to see this raise more than $2400. How ever, I have already promised to close as soon as the total goes past $2400 in order to entice participants with a better chance to win. If the general consensus on the forum is that there should be no upper limit or some higher limit, I am willing to go along with that.

Noel, My check is in an envelope and will go out in tomorrow's mail.

Having run an auction on this and Jan Stills Forum I know from experience it needs an adjustment or tweeking from time to time. It will come to you as time goes on, hope you have plenty of time!

Tony is under the misconception ( I think ) that the auction is for ten days or less...I believe you said it would close no later than Oct. 15 and sooner if $2400 was raised. Thanks for all who can help, Jerry Burney

Sorry for confusing you and I with my last suggestion, I need more coffee. So, what I was trying to say is to run it for as long as practical and collect as much as possible.

Default S&W added to the raffle!

S&W fans!

Hereâ??s the other half of this raffle guys!

S&W Model 25-5 with 6 inch barrel, chambered for the venerable 45 Colt.

This revolver is accompanied by the matching box, manual, â??sight adjustment toolâ? (Itâ??s a screwdriver to the unwashed herd.), cleaning rod & mop. The cylinder has been turned. Itâ??s other wise NIB and unfired.

Minimum total for the raffle to go forward will be $600. Chances will be $10 each or $50 for six. The money from this one will be donated in the name of the S&W forum. Other terms are the same as for the Luger. If you want chances for both on one check, indicate how much for each.

I expect the drawing will be around the middle of October.

BTW: I am known as â??unspellableâ? at the Luger Forum and most other forums I participate in. At the S&W forum the software would not accept my yahoo address for some reason so I used my dogâ??s internet handle, â??The Maxoâ?. (Youâ??d be amazed at the offers he gets!)

Noel,
Check is in the mail. Put me down for 5 tickets on the Luger. Thx again, as already said by many others for taking the time to donate to and run this raffle.

Default Update

So far all pledges have been from this forum except for Ed Tinker who has repeated his offer here over on Jan Still's forum, so I guess I have to count that as coming from here. Most of them have been for the Luger.

I'm not well known on Jan Still's forum.

I'm a little surprised that so far I've had no replies from the S&W Forum. That's a very active forum. Wondering if they think it's on the up & up. I've been active on that forum for some time, once bought a revolver cylinder from one of the guys.

Here on this forum, I've purchased John's CD, a pistol from LugerDoc and sold a pistol to Mauro. All fine as far as it goes, but I'm sure it doesn't hold a candle to the number of transactions LugerDoc, Thor, et al, have been involved in.
