I do have one interesting thing. One of the younger firemen came into the 2nd floor and saw my father in laws flag (the one that was draped over his coffen), it was also a case my dad made for my wife as a surprise, had John's flag, some of his medals and American Legion hat. He grabbed it and tossed it out of the house so it would definately be saved...

That touched me greatly.

All the stuff is just things, but memories mean a lot...

Fellows, The Raffle is going very well. In only 5 hours we have sold 35 tickets and collected many cash contributions. The Luger community Members have really stepped up and shown their generosity. I want to personally thank you all.
Many of you have asked what you can do and I want to recommend you buy a raffle ticket. Having been where Ed is at I know that money is important to solving some problems we would all help with if we were there.
Money will never replace all of Ed and Terry's precious treasures but it is what we can do.
Again, I will keep everyone informed on a daily basis. Thanks everyone!
Please read my previous post on how you can help. Thanks Jerry Burney

John D has added a Krieghoff mag and a copy of Krieghoff parabellum to the prize pot. This makes 5 prizes that will be drawn. Your odds are getting better!
He also mentions a Hi-Power rig if the pot gets to $3,000.00 or up. Keep your donations and ticket purchases coming....Apparently it's only going to get better! Remember the winning ticket holder picks first out of the prizes offered, second second and so on. Thanks, Jerry Burney

Ed, It's great to hear that it was'nt as bad as it could have been. And a very honorable and thoughtfull action by the Fireman in saving something that important to your family.

If I can do anything at all, call me. Ron

Ed and Terry, I'm so happy you both escaped, the animals are safe and the guns are OK. I came in rather late on this shocking thread but am gratified that the "guys" are rallying. My raffle donation goes out tomorrow to Jerry and I'm adding a DE/63 proofed tool to the raffle pool. Hope you are back up soon, Ed.

Herb, Many thanks for the ticket and the tool donation. It is much appreciated. Many people have donated additional prizes and they will all be recognized and given away in this drawing. As of last night we had a total of five and Herb's tool makes it six prizes.

I just got a personal message from Tom Armstrong and in addition to his more than generous cash contribution he has a K date holster he is adding to the Pot! That makes 7 prizes and if that don't make you drool into your beer I don't know what would do it....

We have now sold 45 tickets and have about 10 more promised and in the snail mail. We should be able to sell all 80 quickly.
Sunday is a slow day so Monday should see a great response from our more than generous Members. I will post a daily sit rep and once again I want to thank you all for your responses and generosity.
I especially want to thank John Dunkle and Jan Still. They have graciously allowed me to do this on their sites and I am ashamed that I did so without their permission. I apologize to both of them for this oversight. In my enthusiasm to help I did not do it but since neither one has kicked me off I guess it's alright. Anyway, Thanks to the both of you. Jerry Burney

To Buy a ticket and possibly win one of the many prizes offered you can send by Pay Pal: magicbelle@yahoo.com

or send me a snail mail(Quick!)

I only found out about this today. My heart goes out to you Ed. If for no other reason than the knowlage and enjoyment that I recieve for being on this board i'm in. I'll be sending a snail mail to you Jerry. If it doesn't make it in time for the drawing I want it to go in the pot anyway. Thank you Ed for suffering fools like me and trying to teach me something .

Bob, Doug, Pipeman, and all the members. Thanks for your support.
George Anderson has suggested I open up ticket sales somewhat to allow for the extra prizes that have been donated. I think this is a good idea for two reasons.
Many people have used snail mail to send in ticket purchases and I do not want to leave any of them out.
Secondly, John Dunkle has made an exceptionally generous offer of a Hi-Power rig if we reach 3 grand. This by itself is reason to try for this number. I don't believe any ticket holder would mind a few more tickets in the pot if they have a chance at this grand prize.
Already there have been some stunning contributions to the prize pool. I will be listing these and their donors. Right now there are seven prizes.

Thanks again to all....Jerry Burney

Thanks guys, you don't know how this affects Terry and I !! We really are touched.

This forum has meant so much to me, the history, the sharing, the meeting of asssorted members, jeez, I think I have met 10 people through this forum and Jans, NOT counting the luger fest we had in Phoenix 3 years ago?

I really do apprecaite it, more than I can express in words...

Ed, You are giving these guys an opportunity to win some GREAT stuff. Heck, I'm REALLY sorry I can't buy a hundred dollars worth of tickets! Ellie says I can't get any because it would look rigged if I won anything. That's the worst thing about running the raffle.....

I always think it would be the worst calamity possible to have a house fire. I'm sure something is worse but it's bad....All of us that are involved hope this will take a little sting out and let you know this Band of Brothers not only want to help but WILL help.

Ed and Terry have been on my mind pretty much constantly since the announcement. My heart and prayers go out to them. My check by snail mail will go out tomorrow and, like pipeman45, if it doesn't get there in time for the raffle drawing it goes into the pot anyway.
