Hi Tony,

Looks like a decent Artillery. And probably at a better price than the one that you were looking at. The seller seems to be making an honorable attempt at describing any warts that it may have. It would be a good buy if you can get it for around $1400-$1500.

Looking at the top left corner of the sideplate it seems to be more rounded than I'd expect; a refinish job ?

it is okay to put a direct link here onto the forum, makes it easier for folks to look and help you.

These old guns can be picked apart to death but the fact remains that this is a nice example and still mostly correct.
This quote by the seller is the typical response by someone who is not a luger collector. They think because it is a artillery luger, it must be worth $2400-$2500. WRONG... If it is (significantly) incorrect, it is not a collectable piece...

wrong grips, replaced slider, wrong firing pin. I would ask more questions about the breechblock and internals. Otherwise, a decent artillery, just not top of the line collectable.

I agree with Ed, There was just the other day an Artillery that had a Mauser Banner toggle that went for 2500 or so..a terrible reblued mismatch. Someone paid a collector price for a thousand dollar shooter.

The grips appear to be black plastic of some sort..Jerry Burney

The Mauser Banner LPO8 may have been one of the 100 that Mauser made for Thailand. $2500 still a bit steep, if reblued. TH

Hard to tell, Norm, from the side-view photo...could easily be a "46" as well which would be right.
