I would buy a couple of luger books that cover different items (no idea what you collect) - although this might not be in your wheelhouse of knowledge.

Just the sear safety should have been a giveaway, in addition to the Eagle L and the police holster. Plus, since Its a commercial gun, the Banner Mauser gives it away
Does the police holster have a number? Most did not by that time frame.

So I need a bit of help again on this one. I made the offer of 2400 at the auction and someone out bid me. I thought it was a BIN but it was not. So I missed it. I got a call from the auction house. The high bidder was a dead beat buyer. So they are offering it to me for all in OTD with the auction house premium on it no bidding this time as a second chance offer and they are local so can pick it up direct like the PPK for 3400. I have done a bit of research and this is not an easy gun to find and not in this condition and I have rarely seen a matching holster. Scratch that I have never seen a matching holster with a Luger. But if its not worth it let me know before I commit. Thanks for any help guys.

That is an exceptional gun and holster. If you can afford it, it is an OK deal. I think it is worth the price.

The owner of the AH said he would have called the second highest bidder first but they were also not local and if he could finish the auction by going to me a local about 15 miles away that can cash and carry it would be better for him. So what they did is sell it to me for what the high bid was minus auction fees. So they make nothing on the sale but finalize the auction. I have the gun in hand and there was no tool in the rig but another surprise. A black bottom extra mag in the mag holder. They must have not seen it. I almost missed it but then spotted it as I was breaking the gun down to inspect. The gun is indeed all matching. The hold open bar, FP and other hidden parts are all matching. The wood grips are not numbered that I can find but have eagle 655 waffenampt on both.

Jackpot! Great to hear. Not sure about the authenticity of the spare mag, not my area of collecting (it is post 1918 ) but the rest of the rig is super.

The extra mag is a modern repro. Likely a MecGar. Good shooter mag but is alien to your fine rig by 75-80 years.
