Default Insurance Policies

Where do you get insurance for your gun collection?

I'm curious. I put mine under a Valuable Personal Property (VPP) rider on my homeowner's insurance, but the whole process was tedious. The insisted on a bill of sale or recent appraisals (recent meaning within 5 years).

I went to a web site called American Collectors, entered everything, got my application submitted and then never heard back from them. Supposedly, they insure antiques, art work, cars and firearms.

My insurance plan is a very large safe in a separate room. I have an alarm system, live in a very conservative neighborhood where most all are gun folks. I'm at the end of a street with no cross traffic. Police and fire are close to my house.

After all that, the NRA offers insurance through Locton (sp?). Check their website.

I have two autos insured with American Collectables, but no guns. I don't have a separate insurance policy or rider for my guns.
