Default Meet Georg Luger

Embedding videos is not possible at the moment, but the link should be interesting.

Thank you Vilm that video is breathtaking. How was it done? I am not questioning the accuracy of your post, rather I am attempting to verify that I actually saw the personage described.

Like many collectors I have wondered what it would like to meet Georg Luger. The video takes me as close as i will ever get to that imagined moment.

Heh. Reminds me of some fun I had at one of my art exhibits... An Ithaca Journal reporter showed up to do her local human interest thing. I've forgotten even the gist of the interview, but remember how when it was done, she had me lie among the pieces I'd made as she snapped pics while standing above. Quite the shutterbug, she urged me to try different expressions. No problem, it was fun. One of those images was captioned in that week's "Leisure" insert. Georg seems to be having fun, too. I'll bet he was a hoot at a party.

Looks like technology called "deep fake"...

You start with a still photograph of someone. Also feed it a video of someone else making a series of facial expressions and moves.

This one of Georg is pretty well done...

Looks like a service can generate these for you:

Yes, this technology is maturing quickly.

It is possible now to have Georg Luger present his own lecture using nothing more than a donor presenter and a good photograph of him.

2020 marked the year that video footage became unreliable.
Everyone can generate decent quality deep fakes with the right, inexpensive tools soon.

Silent film was well underway in the early 20th Century. We'd need some evidence one way or the other for whether this is period film with its frame rate adjusted, or a modern manipulation of a photo. If actual film footage was discovered at some point, one would think that someone on the Forum would know about it...and this is what bolsters the latter.

BTW, the motion picture industry has deep roots in Ithaca. And then, somebody figured out that the weather was better in California... http://www.ihstattler.com/blog/2016/...ollywood-east/

Here is the photo that was used as the basis for the animation.

The free animation service of MyHeritage was then used to create the short animation in the link.
