32 ACP Baby luger

What can you guys tell me about this 32 ACP Luger. The barrel seems to about a 1/4" shorter than a regular 9mm. Let me know if other pics are needed. I also need a rough value on it. It has been reblued/restored from what i can tell.

Is the frame itself any smaller than a P.08? Hard to tell in the pics.

This doesn't look like the GL prototypes, on which the safety mechanism is different/simpler (on a slightly scaled-down frame?). Can't say I've ever even seen a pic of a Mike Krauss rendition of the .32 auto. but my impression was they were copies of the GL.

It appears to be a typical 7.65 commercial to me.

They beat me to it, but yeah that’s a .30 Luger (or 7.65x21) pistol there. Side question, weren’t Baby Lugers chambered in .380?

That's why I asked about the frame's scale...

I was looking around in the meantime and found a post by our Ron Wood on Jan's forum:

"The "GL" marked "baby" Luger is the cut down 7-shot variation. It would be the pre-war "baby", a modification of a larger Luger and not one of original design. The true "baby" Luger was produced long after Georg Luger (GL) was out of the picture and was a new design in the 1920s.

According to Herr Weiss, there were at least four of the "baby" Lugers produced as toolroom prototypes, two in 7.65mm (.32 Browning) and two in .380 cal (9mm Kurz), with the possibility of enough parts on hand to construct a 5th example (caliber unknown)."

Guys,
you are likely correct on the ID, which is why I asked "are you sure".

But unless you have X-ray vision, you cannot be sure that it is not a 1920 commercial luger with a 32 ACP barrel installed, or sleeved! No reason it has to look "different" from the outside. There have been .22lr projects shown that "looked" like a normal luger from the outside(not a conversion kit".

It is not likely, but not impossible. I'm not sure why anyone would do "it", but it would be an interesting rainy day project!

You indicate that the gun is a .32 cal. Baby Luger, but all I (we) can see is a reblued, regripped, commercial Luger, likely in .30 cal. What info. do you have to the contrary and what am I (we) missing?

That's roughly consistent with a 7.65mm/.30 cal commercial Luger. It doesn't look too badly buffed, maybe worth ~$700 in my area...

If a reblued ,30 Luger caliber pistol, it's value is probably $650-$750.

Check the chamber and see if it is made for a bottleneck cartridge (you can see the bevel for the shoulder).

Lugers were not normally made by DWM in calibers other than 9mm and .30 Luger. You would expect a 95mm barrel on one of these pistols.
