G-Date Police Contract Gun B90/S92 proofs
Saw a G-date Luger at gun show with police sear and capture papers, so it is a not a post war rework. Appears all matching, but it has been heavily buffed and refinished (so bad the "G" was obliterated). But the proof markings were still legible and are B90/S92 proofs. Thought the police contract guns are later G date. Anyone seen other police guns with B90/S92 proofs? Would it be worthwhile to buy and restore (seller asking $895)?

The cost to restore starts at around $400 and up, so that has to be taken into consideration, and if letters have to be "fixed" then that adds to the cost. Also, in the collecting frat, a restored gun will never sell as well as an original piece, even if done very well.
Otherwise, WAIT for an original piece. Ed
